Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at CR-pressurewashing@hotmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

We offer our services in all surrounding areas from Ilminster to Wellington and all in between. Live further afield? If we can secure more than one clean in your area, village etc, then we might be able to offer services out of our normal areas - get in touch to discuss.

Absolutely. We carry comprehensive public liability insurance that covers all aspects of our work. This protects both your property and gives you complete peace of mind while we're on site.

We're happy to provide proof of insurance on request - just ask when you book. Many of our customers appreciate this reassurance, especially for larger projects or work on valuable surfaces.

No, you don't need to be home - and many of our customers prefer to be at work while we complete the job. As long as we have:

  • Access to the areas that need cleaning
  • Access to an outside tap or water supply
  • Any gates or side access unlocked

We'll send you before and after photos once the job is complete so you can see the

transformation. We always clean up thoroughly and leave your property as we found it, just cleaner!

TIP - If you have specific instructions about parking, pets, or access, just let us know when booking and we'll make a note.

Getting a quote is quick and easy. You can:

  •  Call or text us on 07714256312
  • WhatsApp on 07714256312
  •  Email us at CR-pressurewashing@hotmail.com
  • Our Facebook page
  • Use our contact form on the website

For the most accurate quote, it helps if you can send us a few photos of the areas you'd like cleaned, along with approximate measurements (e.g., "driveway is about 40 square metres").

Don't worry if you're not sure - we can work from photos.

We aim to respond to all quote requests within 24 hours, usually sooner.

We accept multiple payment methods for your convenience:

Bank transfer (BACS) - our preferred method

Cash on completion

• Card payments (coming soon)

Payment is due upon completion of the work, once you're happy with the results. For larger commercial projects, we may discuss staged payments.

We take immense pride in our work and your satisfaction is our priority. If you're not completely happy with any aspect of our cleaning, let us know within 48 hours and we'll return to address it at no extra cost.

We always walk through the completed work (or send detailed photos if you're not home) to ensure you're delighted with the results before we consider the job done.

Light rain doesn't stop us - we're working with water anyway! However, we may need to reschedule in certain conditions:

Heavy rain or storms - for safety and quality reasons

Strong winds - particularly for gutter work

Freezing temperatures - water can freeze on surfaces

If we need to reschedule, we'll contact you as early as possible (usually the evening before) to arrange an alternative date. Your booking always takes priority.

We clean all types of domestic and commercial driveways, including:

  •  Block paving - the most common type, available in various patterns and colours
Tarmac and asphalt - including older surfaces
  •  Concrete - plain, stamped, or imprinted
  •  Natural stone - sandstone, limestone, granite, slate
Resin bound and resin bonded - requires careful, lower pressure
  •  Indian stone and porcelain

We adjust our equipment, pressure settings, and cleaning solutions based on your specific surface type to ensure the best results without any damage.

The time required depends on several factors:

  • Size: A typical 2-car driveway (30-50m2)

takes 3-4 hours

  • Condition: Heavily soiled or moss-covered surfaces take longer
  • Surface type: Block paving with re-sanding takes longer than plain concrete
  • Additional services: Sealing adds drying and application time.

We'll give you an estimated time-frame when we provide your quote. Most domestic driveways are completed within a single visit (half to full day).

Yes - re-sanding is included as standard with all our block paving cleans. This is an essential part of the service, not an optional extra.

We use high-quality kiln-dried sand which:

  •  Fills and stabilises the joints between blocks and prevents blocks from shifting or rocking
  •  Helps prevent weed growth
  •  Improves the overall appearance

The surface needs to be dry before sanding, so we'll either wait or return if necessary to

complete this final step properly.

We can also offer polymeric sand as an additional cost which sets in the block paving adding extra resistance to weed regrowth - just ask for a quote.

Not when done correctly by a professional. The key differences between DIY and professional cleaning:

Correct pressure settings: We adjust PSI for each surface type - what's right for concrete would damage resin

Rotary surface cleaners: These provide even cleaning without the striping and etching that lance cleaning can cause

Proper technique: Consistent distance, angle, and overlap prevent uneven cleaning

Surface assessment: We check for loose blocks, damaged pointing, or surface issues before starting

If we identify any pre-existing damage or concerns, we'll discuss them with you before proceeding.

We can significantly reduce the appearance of oil stains using specialist degreasers. However, we believe in honest expectations:

Fresh stains: Usually respond very well to treatment

Older stains: Can be lightened considerably but may not disappear completely

Deep penetration: Oil that has soaked into porous surfaces like concrete or block paving may leave some shadow

We'll assess your specific stains and give you an honest expectation of what results are achievable. Often the improvement is dramatic, even if not 100% removal.

TIP - Applying sealant after cleaning creates a barrier that makes future stains easier to remove.

Yes, we offer professional sealing as an optional extra after cleaning. Quality sealant provides multiple benefits:

  • Stain protection: Creates a barrier against oil, fuel, and other spills
  • UV protection: Prevents fading and colour loss
  • Easier maintenance: Dirt and algae wash off more easily
  • Enhanced appearance: Brings out colours in block paving and natural stone
  • Weed prevention: Sealed joints resist weed growth

We use high-quality sealants suitable for your surface type, available in matt, satin, or wet-look finishes. Sealing typically lasts 3-5 years depending on wear.

Yes, weed removal is part of our driveway cleaning process. Our approach:

  •  Pressure washing removes most surface weeds and moss
  •  Manual removal of stubborn deep-rooted
    weeds where needed
  • Re-sanding fills joints to prevent immediate regrowth
  • Optional weed treatment can be applied to kill remaining roots

For severely overgrown driveways, we may recommend treating weeds a week before cleaning for best results. We'll advise based on your specific situation.

Natural stone requires specialist knowledge and a careful approach. Different stones have different characteristics:

  • Sandstone: Porous and relatively soft - we use lower pressure and stone-safe chemicals
  • Limestone: Can be etched by acidic cleaners - we use pH-neutral solutions only
  • Slate: Can flake if pressure is too high - gentle approach essential
  • Granite: Very hard and durable - can tolerate more aggressive cleaning

We always test a small inconspicuous area first and adjust our method accordingly. For delicate or valuable stone, we may recommend soft washing (low pressure with cleaning solution) rather than high-pressure washing.

If your pointing is in good condition, professional cleaning shouldn't cause any damage. However, if pointing is already:

  •  Crumbling or loose
  •  Cracked or missing in places
    Very old sand-and-cement mix

Then pressure washing may dislodge weakened areas. We always assess the condition before starting and will let you know if we spot any concerns.

In many cases, cleaning actually reveals pointing issues that were hidden by dirt and moss - issues that would need addressing

regardless.

We can also re-point if needed, just ask for a quote.

The ideal frequency depends on your specific situation:

  • Sunny, open patios: Every 18-24 months is usually sufficient
  •  Shaded or north-facing: Annual cleaning recommended due to faster algae growth
  •  Under trees: May need cleaning every 6-12 months
  •  High-traffic areas: More frequent cleaning keeps them safe and looking good

Applying a biocidal treatment after cleaning significantly extends the time between cleans.

We can advise on the best maintenance schedule for your patio.

Yes! We clean all exterior hard surfaces including:

  • Garden paths and walkways
  • Steps and staircases (a common slip hazard when dirty)
  • Retaining walls and garden walls
  • Edging and borders
  • Decorative features and planters

These can usually be added to a driveway or patio clean at a reduced rate since we're already set up on site. Slippery paths and steps are a genuine safety hazard, especially in wet weather - cleaning them is both aesthetic and practical.

Yes, we clean both composite decking and porcelain paving. These modern materials require specific approaches:

Porcelain: Very hard-wearing but can become slippery with algae growth but responds well to cleaning.

Composite decking: Requires lower pressure to avoid surface damage. We use appropriate settings and deck-specific cleaners.

Both materials are generally easier to maintain than natural stone once cleaned, as their surfaces are less porous.

We use a professional gutter vacuum system that allows us to clean gutters safely from ground level:

Carbon fibre poles extend up to 12 metres (approximately 4 storeys)

Powerful vacuum removes leaves, moss, debris, and compacted silt

On-board camera system lets us see inside the gutters in real-time

Before and after footage provided so you can see the results

This method is safer than ladder work, causes no damage to gutters, and allows us to reach areas that would be difficult or dangerous to access by ladder.

As a general rule:

  •  Standard properties: At least once per year, ideally in late autumn after leaves have fallen
  • Properties near trees: Twice yearly (spring and autumn) recommended
  • Properties with overhanging trees: May need quarterly cleaning
  •  Flat roofs with box gutters: Often need more frequent attention

Regular gutter maintenance prevents costly water damage to your property. Blocked gutters can cause:

  •  Damp and water ingress
  •  Foundation damage from overflowing water
  •  Fascia and soffit rot
  •  Staining on brickwork and render

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at CR-pressurewashing@hotmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Look out for these common signs of blocked or failing gutters:

  •  Water overflowing during rain (the most obvious sign)
  •  Plants or grass growing from your gutters
  •  Sagging gutters - debris holds water which adds weight
  • Green algae staining on external walls below gutters
  •  Birds or wasps nesting in gutters
  •  Water pooling near your foundations
  •  Paint peeling on fascias or soffits
  •  Damp patches on internal walls near roofline

If you notice any of these signs, don't wait - the longer gutters remain blocked, the greater the risk of water damage.

Yes - checking and clearing downpipes is included as standard. Blocked downpipes are often the real cause of overflowing gutters, not the gutter itself.

We test water flow through each downpipe and clear any blockages. For stubborn blockages, we can use specialist clearing rods or high-pressure water jetting.

Yes, conservatory gutters are one of our specialities. Our pole system is ideal for conservatories because:

  •  No need to put weight on glass or polycarbonate panels
  •  We can reach all areas without risk of damage
  • Often combined with conservatory roof cleaning

Conservatory gutters are often neglected because they're difficult to access, but they're particularly prone to blockage as debris washes down from the main roof above.

We primarily focus on cleaning, but we also offer a handyman service and can carry out minor repairs while on site, such as:

  • Resealing leaking joints
  • Refitting loose brackets
  • Realigning sagging sections
  • Replacing broken gutter clips

For larger repairs or full gutter replacement, we can recommend trusted local contractors. We'll always let you know if we spot any issues during cleaning.

Yes - we supply invoices for you to send to your landlord as proof the gutters have been cleared. We offer annual cleans and also offer discounts if multiple homes in the same close/row take up our services - get in touch if you have any questions.

Absolutely - this is one of our most popular services. Over time, white UPVC turns grey or green due to:

  •  Algae and mould growth
  •  Oxidation from UV exposure
  •  Accumulated dirt and pollution

We use specialist UPVC cleaning solutions and soft brushes to restore the original white finish.

Results are often dramatic - it can make your whole house look freshly painted.

We also clean coloured UPVC and composite cladding using appropriate methods for each surface type.

Yes, we clean all types of conservatory roofs:

  • Glass roofs - cleaned with

purified water for a streak-free finish

  • Polycarbonate roofs - gentle cleaning to remove algae without scratching

A clean conservatory roof makes a huge difference to the light levels inside - you'll be amazed how much brighter your conservatory feels afterwards.
